Stir-fried Beef with Cashews
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 pounds flank steak sliced thin
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/3 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes or more to taste
- 2 tablespoons peanut or vegetable oil
- 8 ounces snow peas
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
- 1/2 cup roasted unsalted cashews chopped
Instructions
- Combine steak and soy sauce - cover - refrigerate while preparing other ingredients
- Whisk hoisin sauce, water and pepper flakes together in small bowl
- Heat oil in wok or pan over high heat until smoking
- Add half of steak and cook for 1 minute
- Transfer to bowl and repeat with remaining beef
- Add remaining teaspoons of oil to empty wok.
- Add snow peas and cook
- Add garlic and ginger and cook for about 45 seconds
- Add all ingredients back into wok
- Whisk in hoisin sauce mixture and cook until thickened - about 1 minute
- Stir in cashews and transfer to platter
