Janet’s Buttercream Icing

Janet’s Buttercream Icing

For medium consistency, add 1 more T of water or for thin consistency, add 2 T of water. For chocolate icing, add 3 oz melted bittersweet chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 1 c crisco
  • 2 sticks parkay margarine
  • 2 tsp clear vanilla
  • 4 T water
  • 2 lb bag confectioners sugar (7 1/2 c = 2 pounds)

Instructions

  1. Cream together margarine and Crisco until creamy.
  2. Add vanilla and water and continue blending.
  3. Add confectioners sugar and stir with a rubber scraper to mix ingredients to avoid a mess when you turn the mixer back on.
  4. Turn mixer on low to blend the powdered sugar into shortening mixture.
