Chocolate Dessert Waffles

Chocolate Dessert Waffles

Yield: 24 - 5 inch waffles

Don't bake too long. They burn easily. The waffles will be soft when taken from the iron and become crisp after a few minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c butter/margarine
  • 2 squares baking chocolate
  • 3/4 c sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 c buttermilk/sour milk
  • 1 1/2 c flour
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar

Instructions

  1. Melt butter and chocolate together.
  2. Add sugar and beat well.
  3. Add vanilla and eggs. Beat.
  4. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk.
  5. Add nuts (optional)
  6. Batter will keep for several days in the refrigerator. Batter will get stiff.
