Candied Sweet Potatoes
Can be grilled the day before and then reheated with foil on at 275 for an 45 minutes or so.
Ingredients
- 4 large sweet potatoes
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 T brown suger
- 1/2 cup maple syrup (or honey)
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup honey whiskey
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to 325°.
- Wash and peel the sweet potatoes. Slice into 1/4 inch thick rounds.
- Spray your grill-safe 10x13 inch baking dish with baking spray, and layer the rounds into it.
- In a small non-stick pot, combine the butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, and orange juice. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the butter is melted. Let simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Pour the sauce over the layered sweet potatoes and yams. Sprinkle with salt and cinnamon. Cover tightly with foil.
- Place onto the grill for 30 minutes, and then remove the foil and continue grilling for an additional 15-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and caramelized.
