Beer & Bratwurst: An Oktoberfest Toas-Tite

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1/3 of a bratwurst sausage, browned and sliced (assuming your brat is roughly 5 ounces, 1/3 will work like a charm)
  • 1 heaping tablespoon of sauerkraut
  • Mustard, to taste
  • Butter
  • An ice cold beer

Instructions

  1. If your sausage is raw, start off by browning it in a skillet until you’re very hungry and it’s nice and golden. Depending on the size, you can slice half or one-third into rounds.
  2. Now get started on the sandwich part by buttering one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place your bread in your pie iron with the buttered side toward the grill clamshells.
  4. On top of that, layer your sausage, mustard, and sauerkraut nice and high.
  5. Carefully put your other slice of bread on top, close your grill, and trim any excess bread.
  6. Grill for 3 to 4 minutes on either side (switching every 2 minutes or so) until your sandwich is toasted to perfection.
  7. Throw it on a plate with some extra sausage, kraut, and mustard. Grab your beer and dig in.
