Taco Sauce
This is on par with a medium spice Ortega sauce.
Ingredients
- 5 cups water
- 3 cups tomato paste (about 2 12-oz cans)
- 1 cup cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce
- 6 (8 oz) half pint glass preserving jars with lids and bands
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a large saucepot. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer 45 minutes to one hour or until thick.
- As mixture thickens, stir frequently to prevent sticking. Ladle hot sauce into hot jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Adjust two piece caps. Process 30 minutes in a boiling water canner.
