Snickerdoodles
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla1/2 cup shortening
- 2 3/4 cup plus 2 T sifted flour
- 2 tsp cream tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 T sugar
- 1 T ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Cream together shortening, butter and 1 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Blend in vanilla.
- Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, mix well.
- Chill in refrigerator 1 hour.
- Combine 2 T sugar and 1 T cinnamon.
- Shape dough into balls the size of a walnut.
- Roll each in sugar-cinnamon mixture.
- Place balls about 2 " apart on greased baking sheets.
- Bake 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Cool on racks after removing from baking sheets. (5 dozen)
