Smoked Pecans & Almonds

Excellent, simple, delicious recipe. Try additional nuts. Wait for them to go on sale at Fleet Farm and stock up.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg white or meringue powder
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tbsp of margarine melted
  • 1 pound almonds
  • 12 oz. pecans

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients with the melted margarine.
  2. Coat the nuts in egg white.
  3. Combing the dry ingredient paste and nuts. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Smoke at 200-250 for 2-3 hours or until the coating is hard. Be careful not to burn. They will begin to taste burned if on too long or too hot.
