Paper Bag Caramel Corn
Ingredients
- 1/4 c. corn syrup (light or dark)
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/2 - 3 qt. popped corn (we just used a popper full which makes a gallon ice cream bucket)
Instructions
- Cook corn syrup, brown sugar, butter and salt on full power for 4 minutes (with our microwave, we had to use 60%), stirring twice.
- Add soda and vanilla.
- Place popped corn in a large brown sack and pour syrup over the corn. Stir to coat evenly. Cook on full power 1 1/2 minutes (our microwave 60%).
- Shake and cook 1 1/2 minutes more (our microwave 50%). Check every 30 seconds and shake (last time we did this, we microwaved 3 times on 30 seconds at 50%). Cut open the sack and spread corn to cool and break apart. Stores well in an ice cream bucket.
