Ingredients

  • 1/8 c shortening
  • 3 c pork diced into 1/2" pieces
  • 2 c diced onions
  • 2 c diced celery
  • 2 c chicken broth
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 c bean sprouts
  • 1 c water chestnuts
  • 2/3 c cold water
  • 4 T corn starch
  • 4 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Heat shortening in a large, deep skillet. Sear pork until it turns white, then add onion and saute for 5 minutes. Add celery, soup stock, salt and pepper. Cover skillet and simmer for 5 minutes. Add sprouts and water chestnuts. Heat to boiling.
  2. In a small bowl combine the cold water, cornstarch, soy sauce and sugar. Mix together and add to skillet mixture. Cook for 5 minutes, or until thickened to taste.

Notes

Make a double batch and have some leftovers. Add anything else you want to this recipe such as snow peas, etc.
