Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 t. baking powder
  • 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1 t. sugar
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1/2 t. garlic powder
  • 1/4 t. cayenne pepper
  • 4 oz. shredded sharp cheddar
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 c. melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 475 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, garlic powder, and cayenne powder. Stir in the cheddar cheese.
  3. In another bowl, stir together the buttermilk and melted butter until the butter forms small clumps.
  4. Add the buttermilk to the flour mixture and gently mix with a rubber spatula until a dough forms and no dry ingredients remain. Using a greased 1/4 c. scoop out portions of dough and place on lined baking sheet with about 1 inch between biscuits.
  5. Bake about 12 minutes or golden brown.
