Olive Garden Breadsticks
Ingredients
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1 1/2 c. warm water
- 1/2 T. yeast
- 3 T. sugar
- 1/2 T. salt
- 1/8 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. butter, melted
- 2 T. Lawry's seasoned salt
Instructions
- Add the flour in a mixing bowl. Make a well in the center and add the warm water. Sprinkle the yeast over the water. Sprinkle the sugar over the yeast. (This will help the yeast drop into the water) Sprinkle the salt over the sugar and add the shortening.
- Mix with a dough hook and knead for about 5 minutes.
- Shape dough into a ball and cover with a cloth to let rise for about 1 1/2 hours.
- Punch the dough down and on a floured surface roll into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
- Using a pizza cutter, cut the rectangle into pieces about 6-7 inches long and 1 inch wide.
- Lay the breadsticks on parchment paper on a baking sheet.
- Cover with a towel and let rise for another 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for 15 minutes or slightly browned.
- Remove from the oven and immediately brush with melted butter and sprinkle with the seasoned salt.
